What better gift for Typewrite Socialite??

Christmas in September?

I know I do a lot of blogging about things I want, so how about some blogging about things I want to GIVE (all under $20, I'm frugal). I start my holiday planning early.

Lilly Pulitzer playing cards, Black Jack. $19.95 from Lifeguard Press
Cards are fun, and are decorative! Make a date to play with the happy recipient! Learn a new game!

Oliver's Labels Large Bag Tag, London Peacock. $4.99
I know these are kinda lame, but attach one personalized with the recipient's name, a favorite quote, or a cheery message to a batch of homemade cookies for a perfect low-key gift!

L.L. Bean Wicked Warm Plush Throw, Chocolate Brown. $19.95
These are available for monogramming, and make a perfect holiday gift. You can never have too many throw blankets! And sorry about the tiny picture and incorrect color, it wouldn't let me select any other view!

I'll be in the spirit of giving. Maybe it's because of those school community service projects...
So you should too.

We Can Work It Out

YOU GUYSSS. I actually worked out yesterday, and it felt so good! Nothing like an hour on the elliptical to get your heart pumping. Plus, they had the Bama game on! Anyways, here's some workout essentials to share with y'all:

Cute water bottle. A MUST! It needs to be functional, but easy to identify amongst other gymgoer's drinks.

Workout tops. I am a fan of the latter, the oversized tee shirt. We'll leave the former to seriously toned athletic types.

Athletic shorts. Duh

Now we're ready. So go ahead, exercise! And then reward yourself with some chocolate cake.
I'll be doing it.
So you should too.

Save Paper, Save Lives

At my house we have a total of a bout 4 Vera Bradley lunch boxes that my mom and I use. They're the best. But there's a problem. I only like the old ones with the foldover top! The new ones are icky. My current one is wearing a bit thin, so I'm kinda on the look for a new one (Christmas List!!). Luckily, Vineyard Vines is here to save the day!

Not only are these lunch bags cute, but they're for a good cause! Share Our Strength (you may know them from their ads on Food Network) is partnering with Vineyard Vines for the Tied to a Cause lunchbag. $10 of the $20 pricetag goes straight to the charity. Sweet!
I'll be doing my part!
So you should too.

P.S. the navy and pink whales are my faveee!

Labels?

So those who know me know I'm not super organized, but I try. I really try. I can't live without my Vera Bradley planner! However, I do like things to be neat. So I was thinking of labels. Remember those? Mom put them on your lunchbox in elementary school? (I once had a dream of owning a label maker... cool, I know) Well, here comes Zazzle.com. I've used Zazzle once before when I made a tee shirt with a picture of Belle (ya know, the Disney princess) for a little girl I babysat. So cute! And guess what! They have custom stickers, too! I tried to upload a pic but it wouldn't let me...
I downloaded a Lilly Pulitzer (I've become a big fan, obvi) print: Crabcake
Then I added my initials (Garamond Bold font, natch)
That's it!
There were two size choices: 1.5 inch or 3 inch. Personally, I'd go with the 3 inch. Better. They just are.
For 1.5 inch it's 4.95 for a sheet of 20.
For 3 inch it's 4.95 for a sheet of 6.
For that price, I'll get both!!
....after a few more babysitting gigs.

Places to put new labels:

  • laptop: too many people have the same Macbook as me now!!
  • gifts: when I'm too lazy to write a card (it happens to all of us...)
  • weekender items: cosmetic bag for Model United Nations trips (shared bathrooms=lost items!)
  • lent items: a friendly reminder to return, and quickly!
I'm sure I'm missing a few opportunities!

I'll be savin' up (yeah, the whole $10) for these babies!
So you should too!

...

I'm lame, I know. This is like my millionth post today! But I've had no homework and everyone but me was watching football (roll tide!) so I resorted to blogging. But aren't ya glad?? Well, here's something else. I love etsy.com sooo much, but this find made me love it even more! Mabel's bags. She has tons of cute repurposed Lilly Pulitzer and Amy Butler fabric made into laptop cases, totes, and more! Here are my faves:

Lilly Pulitzer Musical Monkeys Fabric laptop case. TDF!!!

Lilly Pulitzer Pink Monkey Fabric crossbody bag and matching key fob
Everyone knows I'm a HUGE fan of the crossbody bag, and won't I need a cute key fob when (if?) I get my license??

I'll be saving up some babysitting money for these!
So you should too.

New project!

My mom has been obsessed with Amy Butler Design for awhile now, but I recently checked out the site myself and found something wonderful! Amy sells fabric, clothes, quilts, and bags. She has some free patterns on her website, including many for quilts! My grandmother has made many a quilt, and I think I'd like to learn how myself. Wouldn't my own quilt be a fun thing to have?

Here's my fave pattern:

And here's some fabric options, some Lilly Pulitzer (whaddup, ebay??) and some from Amy Butler herself:

Making a quilt would be a long, laborious process. And it would be a big commitment, I'd have to force myself to finish. But maybe I will be able to! Here's hopin'.
I'll be feelin' crafty...
So you should too.

Whatta great day

Just picked up some brand new Sevens jeans!! To quote my bff CG (miss you!) "Yippee!"
I'm already planning outfits in my head, natch.

Here they are! You can't tell in the picture, but they have white stitching down the sides.
Best part? 30 bucks! A steal! I know, be jealous.
I'm so happy.
I'll be pairing them with my fall tops.
So you should too.

Dream a little dream of.. THIS!

YOU GUYS! You'll never guess what I just found! I'm on a [preppy] role!
Lilly Pulitzer Home for Garnet Hill!
My mother has been getting Garnet Hill catalogues for years, and I've always ignored them in favor of Boden, Anthropologie, etc. Never again! I've hit dorm room gold!

Here's my fave:
La-Te-Dah Dahlia comforter cover. Here in the Deep South, comforter covers are all-season, just use it sans-comforter as a quilt in hot weather! And this would go fine with some Target (or otherwise cheap) brand white, green, pink, or yellow sheets. The best part? It's available for monogramming!

Too bad I don't leave for college for another 2 years..

I'll be planning my dorm anyways. So you should too.

!!!

I need one for my keychain!

So you should too.

Let's Get Preppy.

You guysssss after reading True Prep (Knopf Doubleday $19.95) I am in full prep mode. Remember my stint with artsy alternative after SCAD this summer? All gone. Now plaid, headbands, and pearls are back! And just in time for Gossip Girl Season 4!! So, just how do I complete my transformation? With flair, of course. It's not just about clothes, people. (Though I do have my eye on a Longchamp tote for Christmas! With monogram!)
According to Urban Dictionary--
Prep: a label for those who conform to typical teenage behavior, in areas like clothing, school behavior, and sports participation, because preps usually are more ambitious and/or image-conscious than others.
Isn't that just sooo me?? I'm ambitious! And certainly image conscious, I care about looking presentable. So you see? It's all about the attitude. But that doesn't mean I haven't been scouting out some preppy style finds...

Laptop bag!

aren't these cute??

I'll be wishing it was NOT 100 degrees here...
So you should too.

Wax On, Wax Off

Guys, let's talk about the importance of a good eyebrow wax.

I'm not totally thorough in my eyebrow grooming, and it's a trait I deplore in myself, believe me. I have normal hygiene habits and I'm not Eastern European (although I sometimes wish I was-- year round tan!) so there is no excuse for me to have unkempt brows. Shame on me.

Anyways, I finally got around to getting them done the other day. Sweet.
I've tried a lot of different styles, based on lotsa different magazine articles. Arched, rounded, thick, thin, I never found a shape that really worked for my face, which is rather wonky shaped.
Dun-dun-da-da! Sophia. Sophia is Eastern European, so she knows a thing or two about facial hair grooming, and she did the best job. My eyebrows now complement but don't overwhelm my face, they are shaped but not gaudy, and they are appropriately centered. When I first came to her over the summer with a friend, my brows were over plucked and she did the best she could. But now, after looking like a jungle resident for a couple months letting them grow out, they're fab!

A good eyebrow wax can make a huge difference in appearance. It's not something that's noticed, it just gives off a more polished, put together look. It makes it easier to pull of a no-makeup look.
*This is not to say that all waxing must be done at Sophia's European Day Spa on Woodley Rd. (though I highly recommend it!). Home wax kits are readily available at drug stores, and if you can do your own, more power to ya.

That's all.
NOW I'LL GO READ THE BEST BOOK EVER-- TRUE PREP!!!

So you should too.

Puppy?

Guys, I want one. Like now.
I love my dogs. I do.
But I wanna new puppy.
Specifically, a pug. Because I fell in love with one at Petland.

A black one.

And her name will be Jackie O.

One problem: I'm not getting a puppy.

But I can dream.

Never gets old..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBoGNBSLYRY

This never gets old.
EVER.
Joaquin Phoenix is super awkward/crazy.
And this is especially apt, since his Casey Affleck-directed documentary comes out soon!!!!!!!! Yay. God bless the crazies.

I'll be watching. So you should too.

Love these boots...

Not totally sure why I love these, but I so do. Wouldn't they be cute with grey tights, and that green skirt I picked out yesterday, and a cute sweater?

I think I need to calm down on the fall front, I'm getting carried away. It's only labor day. Oh well!
I'll be living in a fantasyland with 55 degree temps.
So you should too.
