Vineyard Vines OG
So OMG, guys. Yesterday was supa fun. We hitched a 9:15 ferry to "the island", aka Martha's Vineyard. A historical (long-standing African American and Native American history), and elegant (neoclassical mansions, anyone?), and tourist-y (get your tee shirts here!) place, I was completely taken with it. My parents were intent on seeing the Methodist camp in the town of Oak Bluffs, which was cool. Back in the day, a bunch of Methodists from Massachusetts decided to have a revival on the coast once a year. And they liked it so much they built houses and churches and stuff. Voila! National Historic Landmark. The houses are so cute, American gothic "gingerbread" style. So after some lunch at a Jamaican bakery, we took the VTA (Vineyard Transit Assoc.) bus to Edgartown. A statelier town, with white manses and shingled bungalows, is the site of the world's first Vineyard Vines store, guys! Woaaah. It wasn't much. And really picked over. Boo. So then after E-town, we skipped over to South Beach. BEAUTIFUL. Even under intense Cape Cod cloud-cover, the beach was great. The waves were really rough, pulling Katie and my fave J.Crew skirt she was wearing INTO THE WATER. So after she got all dried offf via the hand driers in the bathroom (classy, I know), and we picked up some super cute tees, we ferried back to Woods Hole. While Mom and Dad ate out alone, Katie and I ate at a local quick eats joint, and took a trip to the candy store. Overall, an amazing day, and I can't wait to come back to the Vineyard. And I will. So you should too.
