Wasn't I Just Talkin' 'Bout This?

The Great Gatsby Movie??
http://www.usmagazine.com/moviestvmusic/news/blake-lively-leonardo-dicaprio-go-out-for-dinner-2010311
According to Us Weekly, Baz Luhrmann (director of Moulin Rouge, Australia) is directing a movie version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's famed novel, one of my personal faves. And the cast?
This much is true: Leo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby.
And Blake Lively is a suspected Daisy Buchanan.
Perfect, I say! Perfect!
How about Tom Buchanan? No word yet.

Woods
It's a woods day, y'all. It's cold outside and I'm jammin' to my "melancholy" playlist. I just want to be in the trees and see animals. Ya know?
I'm a nature girl. Vegetarian, hiking-boot-owning, adrenaline-loving kinda gal.
I'm also a, uh, shall we say, discerning individual. I like plumbing. And pretty things.
So what's a girl like me to do when she's in the mood for some dirt and nature and stuff?
Glamping. Thats "glam" + "camping."
check out Martyn House in the North Georgia Mountains:
Nature appreciation at its finest. One of the glam tents.
Glam tent interior. Pretty sweet, huh?
21st Century outhouse? Not too shabby! Love their decor.
Whatcha think? I'm loving it.
Soooo much.
So you should too.

So the other day, I mentioned in my Southern-lovin' blog that my pups are all named for Southern writers/literary characters. Which is awesome, right? While I was on the search for naming ideas for future pets, I stumbled upon quite a few other things named for Southern greats of the literary world.
Great minds think alike!
Kiehl James Patrick:

Kiehl James Patrick:
Atticus Finch bracelet {To Kill a Mockingbird}
Daisy Buchanan bracelet {The Great Gatsby}
Oh, and their headbands are named for some of my favorite people, too.
Like, Jackie O for example. She's the bomb.
Remember yesterday's post about Billy Reid? Yep. All. Southern. All. The. Way.
That is all I guess. Stressful week=not alot of blogging.
I'll close with this picture:
It's Oak Alley Plantation House. Ya know, in Louisiana?
It's my future home. No biggie.
All this southern researching has rekindled my love for old Plantation homes.
That, and many walks in Columbus, Mississippi.
And now a quote from the mahvelous Miss Katie Scarlett:
"As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me.
I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again.
No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill.
As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again."
How's that for determination??
I'll be jammin' to some new music!
So you should too.

I'll think about that tomorrow.
Let's get somethin' straight, people.
There's been some talk about me hating the good ole South.
ok. guilty as charged on some occasions.
Though I might grow tired once in a while of 100+ temps and lack of activity in Motown, it's still the place I call home.
So here ya go: some bonafide Southern stuff I love.

This. Movie.
Real talk: read it cover-to-cover in sixth grade. If I wasn't Meredith Grey, I'd be Scarlett O'Hara.
NOLA. Future home? Mabes. Favorite city? Ohhhh yeah.
Ain't nothin' like it nowhere.
Sorry, Dreamland BBQ. I know I stole your slogan. But it expressed my love for red velvet cake just right.
PS I don't eat meat, but you're still cool. Bye!
"All things in moderation." -Plato (?)
applies to my parrothead-ness. In June, I suddenly know all the words to "Margaritaville" again.
Billy Reid's clothes. He's from Bama.
PS- this dress is called the "Scout"; see below.
MY DOGS.
We've got a Southern literary thing goin' on: Scout {TKAMB. duhhh.} and Stella {Streetcar Named Desire ref. Anyone??}
I've got some names picked out for prospective pups as well:
1. Tennessee Williams. He's from my daddy's hometown! Shout out, Columbus, MS!
2. Twain. But this kinda has a weird ring.
3. Welty. LOVE.
4. Scarlett. See above.
5. Sebastian. Again with the Tennessee Williams. Suddenly, Last Summer. Come on, people.
And I'm out of ideas............
Good enough? I think so.
I'll be flippin' through Southern Living.
So you should too.
