The Great Gatsby Movie??
http://www.usmagazine.com/moviestvmusic/news/blake-lively-leonardo-dicaprio-go-out-for-dinner-2010311
According to Us Weekly, Baz Luhrmann (director of Moulin Rouge, Australia) is directing a movie version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's famed novel, one of my personal faves. And the cast?
This much is true: Leo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby.
And Blake Lively is a suspected Daisy Buchanan.
Perfect, I say! Perfect!
How about Tom Buchanan? No word yet.

Woods
It's a woods day, y'all. It's cold outside and I'm jammin' to my "melancholy" playlist. I just want to be in the trees and see animals. Ya know?
I'm a nature girl. Vegetarian, hiking-boot-owning, adrenaline-loving kinda gal.
I'm also a, uh, shall we say, discerning individual. I like plumbing. And pretty things.
So what's a girl like me to do when she's in the mood for some dirt and nature and stuff?
Glamping. Thats "glam" + "camping."
check out Martyn House in the North Georgia Mountains:
Nature appreciation at its finest. One of the glam tents.
Glam tent interior. Pretty sweet, huh?
21st Century outhouse? Not too shabby! Love their decor.
Whatcha think? I'm loving it.
Soooo much.
So you should too.

So the other day, I mentioned in my Southern-lovin' blog that my pups are all named for Southern writers/literary characters. Which is awesome, right? While I was on the search for naming ideas for future pets, I stumbled upon quite a few other things named for Southern greats of the literary world.
Great minds think alike!
Kiehl James Patrick:

Kiehl James Patrick:
Atticus Finch bracelet {To Kill a Mockingbird}
Daisy Buchanan bracelet {The Great Gatsby}
Oh, and their headbands are named for some of my favorite people, too.
Like, Jackie O for example. She's the bomb.
Remember yesterday's post about Billy Reid? Yep. All. Southern. All. The. Way.
That is all I guess. Stressful week=not alot of blogging.
I'll close with this picture:
It's Oak Alley Plantation House. Ya know, in Louisiana?
It's my future home. No biggie.
All this southern researching has rekindled my love for old Plantation homes.
That, and many walks in Columbus, Mississippi.
And now a quote from the mahvelous Miss Katie Scarlett:
"As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me.
I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again.
No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill.
As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again."
How's that for determination??
I'll be jammin' to some new music!
So you should too.

I'll think about that tomorrow.
Let's get somethin' straight, people.
There's been some talk about me hating the good ole South.
ok. guilty as charged on some occasions.
Though I might grow tired once in a while of 100+ temps and lack of activity in Motown, it's still the place I call home.
So here ya go: some bonafide Southern stuff I love.

This. Movie.
Real talk: read it cover-to-cover in sixth grade. If I wasn't Meredith Grey, I'd be Scarlett O'Hara.
NOLA. Future home? Mabes. Favorite city? Ohhhh yeah.
Ain't nothin' like it nowhere.
Sorry, Dreamland BBQ. I know I stole your slogan. But it expressed my love for red velvet cake just right.
PS I don't eat meat, but you're still cool. Bye!
"All things in moderation." -Plato (?)
applies to my parrothead-ness. In June, I suddenly know all the words to "Margaritaville" again.
Billy Reid's clothes. He's from Bama.
PS- this dress is called the "Scout"; see below.
MY DOGS.
We've got a Southern literary thing goin' on: Scout {TKAMB. duhhh.} and Stella {Streetcar Named Desire ref. Anyone??}
I've got some names picked out for prospective pups as well:
1. Tennessee Williams. He's from my daddy's hometown! Shout out, Columbus, MS!
2. Twain. But this kinda has a weird ring.
3. Welty. LOVE.
4. Scarlett. See above.
5. Sebastian. Again with the Tennessee Williams. Suddenly, Last Summer. Come on, people.
And I'm out of ideas............
Good enough? I think so.
I'll be flippin' through Southern Living.
So you should too.

heyyy
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
It's been awhile.
hey.
So, I have a new layout thanks to SMITTEN. Not sure if I like it, so its very subject to change. However, I'll let it ride for the time being.
I stumbled upon a great blog the other day so I'm here spreadin' the good news. It's called Southern In The City and its an extension blog of Garden & Gun magazine, which, of course, advertises itself as "the soul of the south." So NYC? Huh? They got soul, yeah, but not much South. This blog is guiding me, a sometimes confused Southerner, through life.
Check out this post--- It's about bars that show SEC games in The Big Apple. Sweet.

The photo above is of the Bama bar, The Ainsworth. (and a prep name at that...)
I'll be reading up. So you should too.

Cute Ways to Wear A Little Black Dress
Untitled by acc2758 featuring a shawl collar cardigan
So the other day I showed ways to dress up a white tee and jeans, today I tackled the little black dress!
The dress is from Boden (but I think its unavailable now...) I chose it because it was informal, but has the potential for dressy. Enjoy!
I'll be pulling out my LBD!
So you should too.

Santa?
Are you listening?? This might just be the coolest gift ever.
And yeah, I'm soo aware that wanting say, a PERSONAL EMBOSSER instead of Call of Duty Black Ops makes me a nerd.
I'll be dreamin' of the endless monogram opportunities! (Envelopes?? Homemade stationery?? No prob!)
So you should too.

R & R
Just got back from the beach!
Well, like 7 hours ago. Nbd.
I'm so lazy now though! And I canNOT believe the PSAT is in ONE DAY. Kinda having a little baby anxiety attack. Whatevs.
Wanna know what helps me relax? 70s movies.
Throwback to the summer! Devoted followers will remember my phase with 70s glam rock... glad its over. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy watching the movies I discovered while in said phase:
AND I finally got my sweatshirt. All in all, a great weekend. If only I didn't have a standardized test on wednesday.
Bleh.
I'm going to relax. So you should too.

Dazed and Confused
Foxes
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
The Runaways. YOU THOUGHT I WAS OVER THIS MOVIE BUT IM SO NOT.
On a preppier note, found some GREAAAT stuff at the Lacoste and Ralph Lauren outlets. <3AND I finally got my sweatshirt. All in all, a great weekend. If only I didn't have a standardized test on wednesday.

D:
Guess what. I'm taking the SAT tomorrow. Kinda having a small panic attack. nbd.
Good news is, afterwards I get to catch up with a friend and then head down to the beach! Just what I need. Too bad I'll be holed up doing PSAT practice all weekend.
Whatevs.
I'll be crossing my fingers!
So you should too.

UGH
This week has been so hectic! Luckily, its ending on a GREAT note. With the exception of the SAT Saturday morning, and the PSAT looming (next Wednesday! Yikes!), I'm super excited to go to the beach this weekend! Unfortunately, its just me and the fam because all of my friends are busy with sports, etc. But, I'll make the best of it. And get a new pullover in the process!
Confession: this is a kids version of the sweatshirt. But the adult version doesn't come in fun colors!
REASONS WHY I LOVE SEASIDE, FL:
1. Reminds me of childhood beach trips
2. Gelato. Nuff said.
3. Walking down the streets with the cute little houses.
4. SunDog Books!
5. Shopping at Perspicacity for my cute coin necklace.
6. Modica Market.
7. Vera Bradley Hotel.... a girl can dream.
8. Dachshunds are its symbol!
9. Alligator sightings.
10. Dinner down the road at Seagrove Market.
Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in some last minute PSAT prep this weekend. Just the thought of standardized testing is killing me, though. Ugh. I'll be counting down the hours til the three day weekend! So you should too.
Fall Colors
Fall WAS here. Emphasis on the past tense, because today the temps in the gump went above 90. And after such a nice cool spell... what a shame!
I've been thinking about fall colors as of late because I'm working on a rather autumnal painting in art.
Here's some fall-colored finds:

Did you know Dogwood trees turn pink in the fall??

I'm in a good mood now... so maybe I'll put off homework a little while longer!

Sorry!
I know its been awhile, and this blissue is going to be rather short, but what can I say? The grading period ends friday! Aka, in two days!!!!!
Well anyways, I made a care package for a good friend of mine who's away at college and I super proud of it! Here 'tis:

I used a green takeout-style box to hold candy, mints, and other small items. I also packed some cookies in a clear tin, but there's nothing special about that. I drew a little picture of her in front of "college." It says "WOOH COLLEGE," which is lame. But CGT recognizes my ironic wit.
ell-o-ell.
I hope CGT doesn't read this before it gets to her!!!
I'll be having a stressful two days.

Charlie Wilson's War
...is a great movie! Loved it.
You know what else is great?
Not having homework.
Oh, and stationery.
Here's some random stationery I like:

Oh, and stationery.
Here's some random stationery I like:
This one's from Boatman Geller. It's a flat card, which I like. The colors are cute, but it's still appropriate for a formal or serious note.
LOVE this one! Ever since I did an alligator in my wax batik project I've become obsessed with them. I know this one's kinda immature. Oh well.
Much better.
Love these Kate Spade Idiom cards.
RED LETTER DAY, OUT OF THE BLUE, IN THE PINK, GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER
Not exactly good for serious notes, but cute nonetheless.
Very versatile Vineyard Vines notecards. They only came in green, but green's cool I guess.
That's all, folks.
I'll be doing MORE homework.
So you should too.

Happiness
Today has been SO stressful. I can't even tell you. I spent seven hours writing a paper about the Vietnam war, made 40 history flashcards, and haven't even started on Biology. So here's some things that get me through days like these:
My Vera Bradley Agenda. LIFE SAVER.
Peanut butter celery sandwiches. I hate raisins. Got this recipe for Real Simple.
Nuff said.
I fell in love with this perfume today at Dillards! My mom and I couldn't figure out who made it because the bottle was so discreet, but we googled it and it's Kate Spade. Fate!
I'm a big fan of perfume. It brightens your day no matter what!
I'll be cheering up a bit.
So you should too.
